CTK Poetry

Why CTK poetry?

If you buy the book, you'll notice one of the most promising ideas to launch CTK is a grass roots movement idea which can take place at concert venues. You print the poems nicely and put them on the restrooms for people to read! Here's the excerpt from the book:

Grassroots Ideas: Concert Toilets & Beyond

There are many ways people can help with CTK, but the most effective and easy way might be to start with grassroots efforts. It might be as simple and easily achievable as putting flyers on toilet stalls in large events. One friend of ours said she didn’t learn about consent until age 35 when she sat on a toilet seat in Burning Man. Burning Man is a huge festival in the desert that preaches consent as one of its principles, so we were quite shocked that this particular friend still had no concept of consent her restroom visit. The toilets at these events often get decorated by participants, and this one had a lovely printout about good consent practices around sex which was probably ready by hundreds of people over the course of the week. Hey – everybody poops! If you read this book and feel inspired, print a little poem or message about consent to kiss, post it in some toilets and tell us how it goes!

Now here are some poems you can print! :

A “Consent to Kiss” Poem

On his path to high sexual bliss,
A man must master “consent to kiss”.

If a man does not ask and tries to steal,
Slap his face so he knows how you feel.

There is no excuse to treat any women this way,
When “can I please kiss your lips” is so easy to say.

If you get a “no” be proud of yourself more,
If they say “hell yes” you’ll thank us for sure.

… and then write about it below!

.

(print this to put on the toilets at Burning Man ... with a little room at the bottom for someoe to write a story)

A Simple Request

Consent to kiss, a simple request
A small but important gesture at its best
It's not about fear or lack of desire
But about respect, trust, and mutual fire

A kiss is not just a physical act
It's a moment of connection, a pact
So before the lips meet, let's make sure
That both parties are willing, clear, and pure

Consent to kiss, a choice we must make
To ensure that our actions are fair and not fake
It's a way to show that we care
For the well-being and autonomy of the other pair

So let's ask before we lean in for a smooch
And make sure that the answer is not just a "yes" but a true "ooch"
A heartfelt "yes" that comes from the soul
Is the only way to make this moment whole

Lips To Meet - Haiku

Lips about to meet
Asking for permission sweet
Consent for a kiss

Dave Kisses on a Train

There once was a young boy named Dave
Who fell in love with a girl on a train
In an impulsive move he pucked up his nerve
And tried for a kiss, something he felt he deserved

But to his surprise and dismay
The girl just laughed and looked away
"Sorry Dave, but I don't think it's right
To kiss someone without asking first, it's not polite"

Dave was embarrassed and blushed red
But he was glad the girl had clear boundaries and he said
"Of course, I apologize, I didn't mean to be rude
Can I ask for your consent before I try to make a move?"

The girl smiled and nodded her head
And Dave's heart skipped a beat and filled with dread
He leaned in and asked nervously
"Can I have your permission to kiss you, please, I implore?"

The girl nodded and closed her eyes
As Dave leaned in and gave her a surprise
A soft and gentle peck on the lips
It was a moment of pure bliss

Dave thanked the girl with a smile as he exited his stop
Feeling happy and overjoyed, what a great day
He learned a valuable lesson that night
To always ask for consent, it's just right

Deserving of a Slap

He didn't ask for consent
Thought it was just a formality
But when he leaned in for a kiss
He got a slap and felt the reality

He learned the hard way that day
To always ask for permission, it's the only way
To avoid an embarrassing glare
Show some respect and real care

Because Consent is Just Sexy

Asking for consent, it's sexy and kind
It shows that you care about the other person's mind
It's a sign of respect and trust
And it's something that can turn the heat up

When you ask before you touch
It shows that you're in control, but not too much
It's a balance of power and desire
And it can set the stage for a moment of pure fire

So don't be afraid to ask for a hug or a kiss
It's a small but important gesture, it's not something to miss
Consent is sexy, it's hot, it's cool
It's something that can make a romantic moment even more full
